Spaghetti Pie

1. Cook the Spaghetti:

– Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Prepare the Meat Sauce:

– In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
– Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through.
– Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

3. Combine Spaghetti and Sauce:

– In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce, mixing well to ensure the spaghetti is evenly coated.

4. Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:

– In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

5. Assemble the Pie:

– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Grease a pie dish or a round baking dish. Layer half of the spaghetti mixture in the bottom of the dish.
– Spread the ricotta mixture over the spaghetti layer, then top with the remaining spaghetti mixture.
– Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top.

6. Bake the Pie:

– Place the assembled pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

7. Serve:

– Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
