Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy

1. Prepare the Steaks:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 patties, depending on your preferred size.

2. Cook the Steaks:
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook until they are browned on both sides, approximately 4-5 minutes per side.
Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.

3. Make the Gravy:
In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the sliced onions. Cook until the onions are soft and golden brown.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the raw flour taste is eliminated.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, allowing the gravy to thicken slightly.

4. Combine:
Return the patties to the skillet, spooning some gravy over each.
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

5. Serve:
Serve the Salisbury steaks hot with mashed potatoes and vegetables, such as asparagus, on the side.
