MAGICAL OR SMART CAKE

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a square or rectangular baking dish.
Separate Eggs:
Separate the egg whites and yolks into two different bowls.
Beat Egg Yolks:
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture is pale and creamy.
Add Vanilla and Melted Butter:
Add vanilla extract and melted butter to the egg yolk mixture, and mix until well combined.
Add Flour:
Gradually add the flour to the egg yolk mixture, stirring until smooth.
Add Lukewarm Milk:
Slowly add the lukewarm milk, continuing to mix until the batter is well combined and smooth.
Beat Egg Whites:
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Fold in Egg Whites:
Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until no white streaks remain.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cake is set.
Cool:
Allow the cake to cool completely in the baking dish. As it cools, the cake will naturally separate into three layers.
Dust with Powdered Sugar (Optional):
Once cooled, you can dust the top with powdered sugar if desired.
Slice and Serve:
Slice the magic cake into squares or rectangles, and serve.
The magic cake’s layers usually consist of a dense layer at the bottom, a custard-like layer in the middle, and a sponge-like layer on top. The magic happens during baking as the batter separates into these distinct layers. It’s a fun and intriguing dessert that’s relatively easy to make!
